How Adco is Set Up

Our Account Executives have access  to over 100 excess and surplus lines insurance markets; all rated at least A- by AM Best.  The two main differences between the insurance carriers we represent is the fact that some give us in house binding authority while others operate only a brokerage basis.  Some of our companies write binding authority and brokerage business.

Our binding authority companies generally write lower hazard business and more “main street” type accounts.  Adco’s Account Executives have the ability to quote and bind submissions that fit the guidelines provided by the insurance company.  Classes written by our binding authority markets include general liability, lower limit property, package, commercial auto, garage liability, inland marine, and liquor liability.

If a risk falls outside of our binding authority then your Account Executive will to submit the account to our brokerage markets.  Brokerage companies do not give us binding authority so we must negotiate with the carrier to secure a quote.  The more unique and one of kind accounts are quoted by our brokerage markets.  Typical lines of business written by our brokerage companies include general liability, professional liability, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, excess and umbrella liability, environmental liability, and high value property.

Send your submission to any of our Account Executives and we will get it where it needs to go.  If you have any questions about working with Adco General please contact our COO, Alex Thomas at 303-605-2083 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Mission and Values

Adco Misson Statement:

Adco General is dedicated to continued growth as a leader in the specialty insurance business through the principals of professional performance, integrity, creativity, education, and outstanding value added service to our markets, producers, and the community.

Core values: Commitment to Value Added Service

We have an obligation to our producers, markets, and insureds to give exceptional value added service.  We take pride in the fact that we currently insure over 10,000 businesses in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. Everyone from the receptionist to ownership plays a vital role in Adco’s continuing commitment to excellence.

Do What We Say We’re Going To Do.  Honesty and dealing with people in a straight forward manner are extremely important qualities that all our people possess.  If someone in our office tells you something will get done, we make sure that it will.

Positive, Respectful, and Dynamic Corporate Culture:

This starts in our office with treating each other, our producers, and companies with respect every day.  Situations are going to come up from time to time where emotions are running high, but there always needs to be a certain level of respect.  We strive to be a company where people enjoy coming to work and our corporate culture is a big part of this goal.  At Adco we think its possible (and encouraged) to have some fun at work and maintain a sense of urgency about getting things done at the same time.

Social Responsibility and Community Involvement:

Social responsibility is an important part of our company.  We believe we have an obligation to be a positive influence on our community and have a minimal impact on the environment.  Our philosophy is that we can be a successful, profitable company and be socially responsible at the same time.
Adco is a longtime supporter of Urban Peak, a non-profit organization that serves Denver area youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Dick Thomas has served on Urban Peak’s board of directors since the early 1990’s.

We’ve also organized a number of blood drives at our office over the years starting with a blood drive to honor an employee who lost a significant amount of blood during childbirth.  Our employees helped build a house with Habitat for Humanity on lot donated by Adco only a few blocks away from our building.

Alex and Mark Thomas are involved with the Art District on Santa Fe neighborhood organization, which is dedicated to promoting public awareness and the vitality of the Santa Fe Drive cultural district.
